This 1930s travel poster is an advertising for the Swiss Luzern–Interlaken Express railway line. The route, still operational today, takes passengers right through the heart of Switzerland. The poster illustrates the magnificent views passengers could expect travelling along the shores of 5 different crystal-clear lakes, past waterfalls and over the magnificent Brünig mountain pass. Over 80 years later tourists continue to enjoy Switzerland's green pastures, blue lakes and white peaks.

The poster was designed by Swiss artist, Otto Baumberger (1889-1961). He was a noted Swiss painter and poster artist. Baumberger produced some 200 posters of great quality and style. His realistic rendering of a herringbone tweed coat became a classic of Swiss poster art.

Particulars: This lithographic poster has been professionally conserved and backed on acid-free linen paper (see poster and print conservation and restoration)
