This is a beautiful travel poster created as part of a series by the French railways (Chemin de Fer de Paris a Orleans). It shows one of Loire Valley's famous renaissance castles, Chateau de Saumur, located in the French town of Saumur. The poster ironically advertises that this area can be explored as part of an automobile circuit.

Constant Leon Duval (1877-1956), was a French a painter and poster designer. From 1910 and until the nationalization of French railways in 1937, he created many posters for companies operating the networks. He used his great talent for painting landscapes to showcase natural sites accessible on the rail path. Throughout his career he was one of the most sought after lithographic poster designers. He designed this poster in 1924.

Particulars: This lithographic poster has been professionally conserved and backed on acid-free linen paper (see poster and print conservation and restoration).
