This 1934 poster is French through and through: the Roman aqueduct, the medieval cathedral, the pretty, little rustic village, and of course a beautiful French woman carefully inspecting her prized grapes during harvest time. It's an advertisement for the Commercial Wine Fair in the town of Béziers, located in southern France. The city is one of the oldest in the country dating from 575 B.C. It is is perhaps most known for hosting the famous Feria de Béziers, centred on bullfighting, drinking wine, and having a good time in the warmth of the summer. This event attracts more than a million visitors every August. The attractions shown on this poster are the St. Nazaire Cathedral and Pont Vieux (or Old Bridge).

Particulars: This lithographic poster has been professionally conserved and backed on acid-free linen paper (see poster and print conservation and restoration)
